SMS Opt-In & Consent

How clients opt in to texts

Back In Chair is a text-messaging service operated by Automate My System LLC that barbershops use to text their own existing clients. This page shows exactly how a client gives consent, the language they see, and what messages they get. Consent is always required and is never a condition of any purchase.

1.Where consent is collected

A client opts in at the shop by checking a clearly-labeled consent box on the shop's digital check-in form (a mobile web page the client fills out on their own phone, or on a shop tablet). The box is unchecked by default and optional — the client can check in and get service without it.

Check in
  1. 1The client opens the shop's check-in link and enters their name and mobile number.
  2. 2They check the optional consent box shown at left to agree to receive texts. It is not pre-checked.
  3. 3They tap Check in. The consent, timestamp, and number are recorded as proof.
  4. 4Only clients who checked the box are ever texted. Everyone else is stored opted-out.

Shops may also add existing clients who gave permission in person, and any client who texts the shop first is treated as opted in for that conversation.

2.The exact consent language

This is the disclosure a client agrees to when they check the box (the shop's name is filled in automatically):

"I agree to receive recurring marketing & rebooking text messages from [Shop Name] (sent via Back In Chair) at the number I provided. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help."

Consent is not a condition of purchase. Opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties for their own marketing. Full details are in our Messaging Terms & SMS Consent.

3.Sample messages a client receives

Messages come from the shop the client opted in to. Each identifies the business and includes opt-out instructions:

AMS Cuts: Hi Rico, it's been a few weeks since your last cut with Carlos. Ready to get back in the chair? Reply YES to book. Reply STOP to opt out.
AMS Cuts: Thanks for coming in, Rico! How'd it go? Reply 1 for Great, 2 for Okay, 3 for Not great. Reply STOP to opt out.
AMS Cuts: We miss you, Rico! It's been a while — book your next visit and we'll get you looking fresh. Reply STOP to opt out.
